COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Heartland Church has announced free wedding ceremonies for Christian couples who want an affordable way to join in marriage; couples can reserve a time slot on November 22 in several locations including Bourbon + Lakeville, Logansport, Plymouth, Rochester, Starke County, Winamac, and the Biker Church of the Heartland.  Giant.fm
  • A multi-year project to honor fallen public service workers ended Friday when a memorial bench was unveiled at the Kokomo Public Maintenance and Refuse Department—led by AFSCME Local 2185 and local police and fire unions—and paid tribute to workers who died on the job.  Kokomo Tribune
  • City officials announced (the famous vehicle) that the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will join the Kokomo Christmas Parade (starting at 5:30 p.m.) on Dec. 6 in downtown Kokomo.  Kokomo Tribune
  • This week, locals visited Howard County Veterans Memorial Park along South Goyer Road to honor veterans with a Walk of Honor featuring engraved names and granite monuments representing each military branch—open 24 hours for reflection. The park, dedicated in September 2000, commemorates service from past conflicts through the Global War on Terror and stands as a lasting tribute in Kokomo.  The Kokomo Post
  • The Frozen Sandlot will open for its eighth season on Nov. 28 at Kokomo Municipal Stadium—this ice skating rink is a partnership between the City of Kokomo and Bridges Outreach that offers workforce development opportunities for students.  Kokomo Tribune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Indiana University experts and Mayor Moore presented a Futurecast report at IU Kokomo that painted a challenging economic picture for 2026—citing less than 2 percent national growth, rising state unemployment, and uncertainty from trade policies. They also highlighted local issues such as changes at the StarPlus Energy plant and new housing developments that may affect Kokomo’s market moving forward.  Kokomo Lantern

  • Tiffany Brown won the Spelling Bee Explosion at the Carver Community Center on Sunday afternoon, sponsored by Gentlemen & Scholars.  Kokomo Tribune
