  • In Kokomo, the Gingerich family built a 70-year legacy in the auto business by running multiple dealerships, including the historic McGonigal and the new Academy that partners with Ivy Tech Community College. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore said the city secured $2.5 billion from a joint venture by Samsung SDI & Stellantis to build electric vehicle batteries, a move expected to create thousands of local jobs. He explained that fast-tracked zoning and improved infrastructure will support training programs with Ivy Tech to ensure the benefits reach local workers & boost the city’s role in America’s EV supply chain.  The Kokomo Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo received a $50,000 grant — awarded by Northern Indiana Public Service Company and the NiSource Charitable Foundation — to expand its ESL Career Training Program. The funds — meant to boost language and career training for local non-English speakers — will help the college better serve the community.  Pharos-Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore announced the relaunch of the Kokomo Infill Program — the initiative will offer vacant lots owned by the Kokomo Community Development Corporation free to developers who sign a development agreement and build a new residential structure within one year, a move that builds on a similar 2024 program which completed 25 projects.  Giant.fm
  • The Howard County Council approved an extra $500K Tuesday for the Sheriff’s Office’s Care of Individuals fund—this money will pay other counties a daily fee for housing local inmates instead of keeping them in county jail.  Kokomo Tribune
