In April, the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance welcomed a delegation from the Korea Economic Institute of America—headed by Arius Derr—to discuss South Korean investment in more than $6 billion StarPlus Energy electric vehicle battery plants.
On April 3, over 60 volunteers planted 1,112 flower baskets and 1,664 flowerpots downtown as part of Keep Kokomo Beautiful, and more planting events are scheduled for May 10 and May 14.
Cass County’s animal control officer had been unable to bring lost cats and dogs to the Humane Society until County Commissioners signed a $50k contract with the shelter last week in Logansport.
The agreement will allow the shelter to care for stray pets more effectively across the county.
🎓 Education
Western High School in Russiaville held a study hall for struggling students on the last day of school before spring break as Jamie Brown’s homeroom celebrated with a pizza party and a movie playing on the screen — a promising step in student support.
🏈 Sports
Kokomo High School’s Winter Guard earned first place at Greenwood in February and finished third at another competition while presenting its fast-paced show "In Your Eyes." The team aimed for a higher finish than last year’s sixth-place state finals—its seniors expressed both excitement and nervousness during its 24th year competing in IHSCGA—after performing on March 20 at the Performing Arts Winter Showcase.
