COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Community First Bank of Indiana has donated $10,000 to a matching grant that grows to $30,000, $20,000 for an outdoor classroom at Bona Vista, and $30,000 for a mini golf course at Cutler Park that will open next year—each donation supports local nonprofits. IU Kokomo will launch its new Small Business Development Center office on Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. in Innovation Hall to offer guidance to student entrepreneurs. Kokomo Lantern
- ➤ The Catholics will host a bingo game on Saturday — only 140 tickets are available and they are selling fast. Kokomo Tribune
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum announced that its Santa Trains will begin operating on November 22 and run every Saturday until December 20. Families will ride a vintage commuter coach from North Judson to English Lake—passengers can visit with Santa Claus and each child will receive a gift bag during the ride. Kokomo Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lucas Jones began his internship at Century Career Center today—he is gaining hands-on career skills with support from mentors including Memi Rennewanz and Jason Carter and guidance from his parents, Matt Jones and Kim Micheal. Pharos-Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Updated guidance from the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service means that the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration must recalculate benefits for all 274,000 SNAP households, so November benefits will be delayed by at least one week—each household’s benefit is recalculated using a revised formula. Pharos-Tribune
