- ➤ William Simon Harris, a Kokomo native who served in the Philippine Insurrection in 1899, was posthumously honored with his long-awaited Medal of Honor when his family received it from Indiana Gov. Mike Braun in January 2025. A ceremony on October 31 at Memorial Park Cemetery replaced his old headstone with a new white marble marker—featuring his name in gold and a gold star emblem—to permanently recognize his brave service. - ➤ Joe Kazlas, a local U.S. Navy veteran, recalled how in 1987 the recession left few job options in Kokomo — he chose military service to shape his future during tough economic times. Kokomo Tribune

- ➤ On Friday, Eastern edged Tipton 41 to 40 in the Class 2A Sectional 36 semifinal as Kaleb Hurt scored three touchdowns—Tipton finished the season at 6-5—while Eastern advanced to face Eastbrook next Friday in the sectional championship. The Kokomo Post
- ➤ Converse's nearly 100-year-old Bordermen Gym hosted legendary basketball games, including a 1944 event where thousands cheered as the undefeated Converse Bordermen played Greentown, and it served as the home of Converse High School basketball until consolidation with Oak Hill in 1960—today the gym sits unused.
