COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kokomo Rescue Mission ran its Red Ribbon Christmas program on Oct 28 when hundreds of volunteers delivered gift boxes to families needing extra help during the holiday season — the campaign is accepting applications for additional support.  Kokomo Tribune

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Kingdom: Cards & Games, a favorite local gaming store known for trading cards and tabletop games, has opened a new downtown spot at 117 W. Sycamore St — the shop will host tournaments and community events for local gamers.  The Kokomo Post
  • Village Creation Station & Shops has opened at 2012 S Elizabeth St in Kokomo and offers a mix of teas, antiques, and a hands-on art space for making pottery and painting. Owner Saga Taylor said the shop provides art studio memberships, workshops & classes to help the community connect and be creative.  The Kokomo Post
  • Fire Forged Pizzeria is serving wood-fired pizzas from a mobile oven at Fuel Church Parking Lot in Kokomo on Fridays and Sundays from 1 PM to 7 PM. Owner Nicholas Denman plans to expand with a full food truck and a permanent storefront—bringing a fresh, artisan style to local pizza lovers.  The Kokomo Post
  • Roots & Timber is a local shop blending plants, art, and handmade woodworks on the third floor of Kokomo Antique Mall at 121 West Sycamore. Owner Christine Oyler—who also works on the Veterans’ and Mental Health Court—offers beginner-friendly plants and vintage brass items as her passion project.  The Kokomo Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Eastern Comet Command tied for fifth place at Saturday’s state scholastic marching band finals at Franklin Central High School. The band performed its show 'Forbidden' — a multi-part presentation based on Adam and Eve that highlighted paradise, the serpent, and the rebirth of man.  Kokomo Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • The ISP provides Halloween safety tips for children and families planning to trick-or-treat so they stay healthy and safe. The guidelines advise careful costume choices (for better visibility) and map out safe routes (to avoid hazards) as Halloween approaches.  Kokomo Tribune
