  • Fresh Start Ministries at 801 W. Mulberry St. in Kokomo will host the Global Freedom Summit on Saturday — the annual event raises human trafficking awareness by featuring a film screening and a short walk at several local locations while focusing on online grooming risks.  Kokomo Tribune
  • The Salvation Army is recruiting bell ring volunteers for its annual Red Kettle campaign as the Christmas season approaches—this effort will support local community programs.  Kokomo Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • Amanda Duncan Productions and Rhine Hall will host a 50th anniversary Rocky Horror Picture Show Immersive Experience on October 24 and October 25 in Kokomo—guests can dress as their favorite characters, interact with live scenes, and enjoy themed food and drinks. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indiana University Kokomo held its fall meeting where 75 school leaders and education officials from 38 partner districts met to discuss plans that improve teacher training and classroom support. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Indiana Conservation Officers ask Hoosiers to aid the DNR in stopping poaching by reporting illegal wildlife theft via nonprofit TIP (call 1-800-TIP-IDNR) so that violators are brought to justice and a tip may earn up to a $500 reward.  Giant.fm

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana Department of Transportation and Indiana State Police urge drivers to move over and slow down when they see emergency vehicles with flashing lights on highways—this warning comes ahead of Move Over Day on October 18, and violators may face a class B infraction. The agencies stress that following the law is crucial for preventing injuries and fatalities among first responders and motorists.  Giant.fm
  • Howard County commissioners implemented a burn ban after fire chiefs reported an increase in brush fires + wildfires caused by prolonged dry weather. The measure aims to lower the risk of further fires while helping local departments manage the dangerous conditions.  Kokomo Tribune
