COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Center Township in Howard County was named Township of the Year by the Indiana Township Association on September 23 in Noblesville—recognizing its Community Expo that served over 200 meals, a food drive that collected more than 9,000 pounds of food and $2,000, a Free Vend Initiative, and a Back-to-School Shoe Giveaway for 72 local children. The township also sponsors traditions like Cookies with Santa and Trunk-or-Treat, supporting residents without using taxpayer dollars. Kokomo Lantern
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Eastern Comet Command won first place at the Avon Invitational on Sept. 27 — it also earned best music, best visual effect, and best general effect awards among seven bands in Scholastic Class B. Kokomo Tribune
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ During Homecoming weekend the IU Kokomo volleyball team won games against Midway University and IU East to extend its winning streak to 11 games—led by senior setter Allison Richman with 19 assists and five aces—and will next face Shawnee State University on Oct. 10. Kokomo Lantern
