- ➤ Bassett Cemetery is a dilapidated grave site at 975 West on 400 North that marks the last remnant of Howard County’s first Black settlement—many graves have begun sinking into the earth as it reflects a legacy tied to Rev. Richard Bassett. Pharos-Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At Fort Mac, first-graders learned about frontier life by touching soft animal furs—valuable trade items in the 1700s—that explained early trading practices. Kokomo Tribune
- ➤ The Kokomo School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Administrative Service Center at 1500 S. Washington St.—the meeting is livestreamed on the Kokomo School Corporation YouTube page as no agenda was available. Kokomo Tribune
- ➤ IU Kokomo launched a 24-hour infoline—available at 855-588-6948 or 855-LUV-MYIU—for students, parents and family members; the service provided help at all hours. Kokomo Tribune
- ➤ On Oct 3, 2025, several local students at IU Kokomo were named to the summer dean's list among 73 full-time students & received recognition by hometown. The university organized the list so that local families can clearly see their achievement. Kokomo Tribune
