- ➤ DSI Together with Bona Vista unveiled the Bill Hingst Outdoor Pavilion on Friday at 1221 S. Plate St.—the project was funded by a matching grant and donations to give Bona Vista clients a new place to gather, celebrated during a ribbon cutting with the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce. - ➤ On September 30, 2025, Holly Wheeler explained the importance of the Friends of the Poor Walk—an event that supports local aid programs and benefits those in need. Wheeler urged community members to get involved to help ensure the walk’s success. Pharos-Tribune
- ➤ The Salvation Army at 1105 S. Waugh St. is accepting new or gently used winter coats to help keep kids warm—donations are welcomed Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., with more information available by calling 765-456-3846. Kokomo Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Sept.29, the Kokomo Police Department launched its new drone program to support public safety by using unmanned aerial systems for search and rescue, suspect tracking and documenting critical scenes. The system is operated by FAA-trained officers and will expand with additional drones under the 2026 municipal budget—its use limited to approved emergency needs. Kokomo Lantern
