  • Kevin Still, CEO of Keystone Cooperative for 41 years, announced his intention to retire effective September 1 next year and will lead the cooperative until his successor is appointed—ensuring a smooth transition. The Board has launched a search for qualified candidates from both inside and outside the organization.  Giant.fm

CULTURE NEWS

  • Northwestern High School hosted its annual Northwestern Invitational on Saturday and featured its marching band along with Eastern's Comet Command, Tri-Central, Tipton, Taylor Marching Titans, Maconaquah Marching Braves, Lewis Cass Marching Kings and Northwestern Tiger Pride—each group adding a unique sound to the event.  Kokomo Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Tyler Moore has reintroduced a $10 trash fee to help cover rising costs and avoid budget cuts amid shortfalls from lower property tax revenue—he said the fee will rise in 2028 and other taxes like an income tax may follow. The Kokomo Common Council is now reviewing these measures to decide on the best way forward.  Kokomo Lantern
  • INDOT announced lane closures on U.S. 35 in Howard County for paving starting Thursday, September 18th — flaggers will direct traffic between State Road 19 and U.S. 31 while work finishes by the end of October, weather permitting.  Giant.fm
  • Indiana Operation Lifesaver observes Rail Safety Week from Sept. 14-20 to urge safe behavior around tracks — the campaign releases new videos and PSAs sharing personal stories and highlighting the risks at grade crossings and trespassing. Today focuses on Operation Clear Track, with law enforcement partners enforcing safety rules and sharing messages to help prevent injuries.  Giant.fm
