- ➤ Russiaville Youth Baseball League received a $10,000 grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation to buy three new scoreboards for its baseball fields—this grant, part of the 2025 Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, will support over 350 young athletes as they prepare for a 60th anniversary celebration next spring. - ➤ Branden Scott, a pastor at Royal Center United Methodist Church and Radnor United Methodist Church, runs a YouTube channel that shows people how to find God in unexpected places—like Star Wars, Doctor Who and Broadway musicals. - ➤ State Reps. Ethan Manning and Heath VanNatter commended a historic nearly five-point boost in third grade reading scores—more than 87% of students reached proficiency. They credited teachers, families and education leaders for the improvement and noted that gains were seen statewide. Giant.fm
- ➤ Ivy Tech Community College will host area high school students at its Kokomo Campus on Oct. 3 to celebrate National Manufacturing Day by showcasing technical and industrial programs along with career opportunities from local employers — the event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — organizers say it will feature hands-on lab demonstrations in robotics, welding, and machine tool technology.
