- ➤ On August 23, the fifth annual Cpl. Humberto Sanchez Memorial Honor Ride was held at Old Style Sixth Street Inn — community members gathered to honor his service and legacy. Organizers said the ride served as a respectful tribute to the Marine's dedication. Pharos-Tribune
- ➤ The Friends of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library will host a trivia fundraiser on Sept. 18 at Bel Air Events with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starting soon after 6 p.m. — the event will include a silent auction, cash bar and prizes for winning teams. Kokomo Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A survey by Chamberlin/Dunn LLC on behalf of the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute shows that many Hoosier employers face challenges in offering on-the-job training to students and adult learners due to a lack of time, capacity — or funds. The study, which surveyed 348 employers across 62 counties and 17 industries, reveals that both small and large businesses struggle to support work-based learning programs. Kokomo Tribune
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ 4C Health launched Recovery Days of Service events across seven counties — Cass, Fulton, Howard, Miami, Pulaski, Tipton and White — to honor recovery and bring communities together. The events, scheduled for the coming weeks, will include volunteer projects, resource fairs and awareness activities for residents to join. Giant.fm
