ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Police say a Kokomo man was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a crash near downtown—officers were dispatched to Taylor Street and Apperson Way shortly before 7:30 a.m. on a report involving an electric bicycle. Kokomo Tribune
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Todd Rokita warned Hoosiers about a text scam that falsely claims a final notice from the DMV—scammers aim to steal personal and financial information by threatening vehicle registration suspension, driving license loss, and prosecution. Residents are advised today to block and report these messages and avoid clicking on any links. Giant.fm
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Maconaquah School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the administration building, 7932 S. Strawtown Pike in Bunker Hill. The board will hold a public hearing on a deferred maintenance project for HVAC improvements at the high school + the public is invited to give input. Kokomo Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kokomo Fire Station No. 6 has been demolished and a new two-story facility is being built on the same site — the Board of Public Works and Safety approved funds to support the project. The new station will serve the fire department once construction is complete. Kokomo Tribune
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Aug. 22 at Ivy Tech in Kokomo, administrators held a health fair that offered free immunizations, TB tests, and physicals funded by NIPSCO—with help from the Howard County Health Department—to remove barriers for Health Services students who need these services to start clinical training. More than 50 students participated to lower the extra costs and time challenges not covered by tuition. Kokomo Lantern

- ➤ In the high school football opener, the Wildkats under coach Caleb Small lost 52—0 to New Palestine as injuries hurt their play and the Dragons scored early. The team will try to bounce back when they host Terre Haute South on Aug. 29. The Kokomo Post
