- ➤ Police arrested a 54-year-old man from Kokomo for attempted murder after he stabbed another man on the southwest side of Howard County over the weekend—authorities say he is facing charges. Kokomo Tribune
- ➤ A Kokomo man, Joseph William Smith Jr. (30), pleaded guilty to five felony counts of arson after a series of fires broke out within one hour across the city last summer and was sentenced this month to 22 years in prison. Kokomo Tribune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo will host a Student Readiness Fair for healthcare and nursing students on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Health Professions Center—sponsored by NIPSCO, the Indiana Department of Health, and local nurse practitioners who will provide immunizations, TB tests, and physicals to help students begin clinical training. - ➤ The Indiana Department of Health urged parents to ensure safe sleep for infants after more than 10 deaths were linked to unsafe sleep practices this month—babies should sleep alone, on their backs in a crib with only a tight sheet, and the department is partnering with Child Services to raise awareness.
