ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Just after midnight last Wednesday near State Road 22 - County Road 700 West, a Jeep Wrangler collided with a Chevrolet Terrain, left the road, and hit a tree, killing its only occupant - and authorities have not released the driver’s identity while tests on the Terrain driver showed no alcohol. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Honeywell Arts Entertainment received a $5,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support its Honeywell Arts In Education program that brings art into core subjects. The funding will allow the program to serve pre-K through twelfth grade students in ten counties during the 2025-2026 school year—strengthening school partnerships. Giant.fm

- ➤ Kokomo residents can view the Perseid meteor shower peaking tonight and tomorrow after midnight—Dr. Patrick Motl noted that with eyes adjusted to dark skies and minimal cellphone light, a shooting star appears every 10 minutes. Kokomo Lantern

- ➤ The Kokomo Police Department will increase patrols and set up sobriety checkpoints from August 16 through August 30 to fight impaired driving—partnering with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute as part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Giant.fm

- ➤ Day 1 of the City of Kokomo Parks & Recreation Department Tennis Tournament took place at Kokomo High School as players of all ages battled under the summer heat and fans gathered on a grassy hill near the courts to watch long rallies, marking the event as a popular summer tradition.
