- ➤ Duke Energy advises customers and excavators to call 811 at least three business days before beginning any digging projects scheduled for Aug. 11—local utilities will mark underground lines such as electric, gas, water, and cable to help prevent damage. Nearly 200 incidents damaging its underground electric network were reported from January to June. Kokomo Lantern
- ➤ Avid readers gathered Wednesday evening at the upscale Coterie on Sycamore Street in downtown Kokomo for the annual Books and Booze adult book fair — the Howard County Library hosted the event to let staff and participants sell and trade hundreds of titles collected over the past year. - ➤ Kokomo Police Department Assistant Chief Brian Seldon said last Tuesday his team had an eye-opening experience assisting at a mobile food pantry—many officers gained fresh insights into local needs. Kokomo Tribune

- ➤ Joanna Lopez Aguilera, a 25-year-old Ivy Tech graduate, joined the Ivy Tech Kokomo Service Area board of trustees on August 9 after Ivy Tech contacted her to add a fresh voice for young students. Pharos-Tribune
