- ➤ A Kokomo woman—24-year-old Krystal Cherika Scott—received an 18-month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to violating her supervised release for animal cruelty; her sentence includes 3 years of additional supervision, and investigators began looking into her case on June 20. - ➤ Howard County Prosecutor Mark McCann requested Indiana State Police investigate the officer-involved shooting on August 2 in the 2100 block of South Lafountain Street in Kokomo—30 year old U.S. Marine veteran and IU Kokomo student Jonahton Landis was killed—and said no officers were injured while further updates will be provided as the investigation continues. - ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that southbound U.S. 31 in Kokomo will close starting August 14 for concrete pavement repairs between the State Road 931 interchanges, with work expected to finish by mid-October. Drivers on southbound U.S. 31 should take the detour on State Road 931 — drivers on southbound U.S. 35 should use the detour along State Road 18 and State Road 13. Giant.fm
