- ➤ Local film reviewer Maceo Milligan says Marvel Studios' new Fantastic Four film finally shows a retro, futuristic look at the classic comic characters after three failed attempts over the past 25 years. He explains the film has a tighter plot and fresh character development (bringing back the missing magic) that sets a new course for Marvel’s First Family. Kokomo Tribune
- ➤ The Indiana State Fair brings new interactive attractions for all ages — including daily shows by Big Top Circus, Wolves of the World, and Mighty Mike — with scheduled performances and hands-on workshops planned throughout the fair. Giant.fm
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kokomo's West Boulevard Street will be closed between Boulder Way and Carmelita Boulevard from 7:00 a.m. today for railroad crossing removal and replacement, with work expected to last three working days and the road reopening on the morning of August 5. Drivers are advised to detour, with westbound traffic using Dixon and eastbound traffic using Malfalfa — routes that continue either north to Defenbaugh or south to Zartman. Giant.fm
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Military Foundation softball tournament will take place at Kokomo Municipal Stadium on Aug.16 (opening at 7 a.m.) with a girls exhibition at 8 a.m. and games featuring teams from the Kokomo Fire and Police Departments and union players (AFSCME Local 2185 and IBEW Local 873); funds raised will help veterans facing financial challenges in Howard, Miami, Tipton, and Cass counties.
