- ➤ On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Kokomo neighborhoods will join the 42nd Annual National Night Out to boost crime and drug prevention by locking doors and spending the evening with neighbors—some areas will hold cookouts. The event also features a drive-thru mobile food pantry at Kokomo Beach from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. provided by the Kokomo Police Department and Food Finders Food Bank. Kokomo Lantern

- ➤ On July 22 at 12:27 a.m. Deputy Lewis Duke stopped a blue Honda Civic near Sycamore Street and Berkley Road after a broken headlight led him to detect a marijuana odor, which resulted in arresting Sidney Brown for methamphetamine and marijuana possession, and at 1:32 a.m. a warrant executed at a North Dixon Road residence led to arresting Dakota Jourdan when deputies found a loaded handgun, multiple firearms, drugs, and unsecured items near two children — who were later released to a family member with Child Services notified. - ➤ On July 22 at 9:30 a.m., Kokomo police investigated an accident at the Markland and Berkley intersection— a white 2003 Hyundai Sonata left the scene with severe damage to its right rear passenger side—and investigators ask anyone with information to call Accident Investigator Greg Smith at 765-456-7017. - ➤ On July 22, 2025, KPD detectives executed a search warrant at 5 Star Discountz on South Main Street in Kokomo and arrested Martin Amir Wilson and Ryan Keith Bammerlin—charges include organized retail theft and corrupt business influence—with the investigation ongoing and additional arrests expected. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kokomo Municipal Airport will begin the complete rehabilitation of runway 5/23 this summer—its closure starts on August 4 and lasts about 72 days as work is split into three phases to limit disruptions. Runway 14/32 will also face temporary closures from August 20 to September 4 with additional brief stoppages in late September and October. Kokomo Lantern
