- ➤ A male inmate at Howard County Jail attempted suicide and was taken to a local hospital after correctional officers began CPR around 2:30 p.m. Saturday (his condition remains unknown) while Detective Shaffer investigates the case. Giant.fm
- ➤ Attorney General Todd Rokita warned residents today that scammers impersonating local police are using caller ID spoofing to demand fines and threaten arrest — so anyone receiving these calls should hang up and contact their police department using a verified number. Giant.fm

- ➤ Makenzie Bashore was crowned Kokomo’s Rising Star on July 18 at Rhine Hall when over 100 fans, friends and family attended the singing competition—she impressed judges with her unique Radiohead Creep rendition while runner-up J'Lan Stewart and other finalists also gave strong performances in an event that raised funds for full-year music scholarships. - ➤ 911 dispatcher Blake Mendenhall was honored with the Indiana Sheriff's Association Life Saving Award at a conference in French Lick for his quick action during a medical emergency on January 23rd at 5:35 a.m. He gave CPR instructions that helped dispatch fire and medics (including Kokomo Fire Department Engine 4 and Ascension St. Vincent crews) and saved a patient who is now recovering. - ➤ The fifth annual Alliance All-Star Game was held at Kokomo High School where 40 top softball players competed and drew a lively crowd.
