- ➤ Waterford Place officials invite the public to join the annual Summer Bash and Car Show this Friday—free entry with donations benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. The event will allow community members to enjoy car displays while supporting a good cause. Kokomo Tribune

- ➤ Police said a Kokomo man was killed Monday afternoon when his car rolled over on the county’s east side; first responders arrived just after noon at County Road 300 South and C.R. 600 East. Kokomo Tribune

- ➤ Applications to participate in the third annual Miss Oktoberfest Pageant are now being accepted. The pageant will be held at 4 p.m. on September 28 at Pioneer High School auditorium. Pharos-Tribune

- ➤ Indiana University Kokomo's Sustainability Council planted 20 apple trees today in its campus ecological restoration site — the new orchard will boost green space and promote sustainability on campus. Pharos-Tribune
- ➤ Michael Horstman, who led Northwestern’s athletic department for three years, resigned after his resignation was accepted during Monday’s board meeting—Northwestern is now looking to hire a new athletic director. Kokomo Tribune
- ➤ The 2026 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship application is now open in Howard County through the Community Foundation of Howard County, offering two local awards within a statewide program of 147 scholarships; eligible Indiana high school graduates planning full-time college study must submit their applications by Aug. 31 and will be notified in December + the scholarships cover full tuition, required fees, and up to $900 per year for books and equipment. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ This spring, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources stocked lakes with walleye and saugeye after raising eggs and fish at Brookville Lake – they released fry in late April and fingerlings in late May at locations including Kokomo Reservoir to help boost fishing since these fish do not breed naturally in most waters. Additional walleye fingerlings are being grown for future fall stockings. Giant.fm

- ➤ The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs opened applications for the Owner Occupied Rehabilitation program and the Planning Grant program—applications run until 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 15 with technical assistance available until 4 p.m. ET that day.
