  • The second annual Legend’s Swine Showmanship Competition raised more than $1,000 for barn roof repairs at the Cass County 4‑H Fair Thursday—family members shared inside jokes and playful teases while a pig sported lipstick at the fundraiser.  Pharos-Tribune

  • Brandon’s Burgers in Kokomo serves classic burgers, chicken sandwiches, tenderloins, fries, and onion rings, and owner Brandon McCann says the restaurant will improve its offerings as diners enjoy unique drink options (like custom flavored lemonade and vanilla soda).   • Kokomo police are asking the public for help finding 43-year-old Jason Chamness, who was last heard from in May when his family reported him missing last weekend & his known phone numbers, addresses, and contacts have not reached him.  Kokomo Tribune

  • The Riverwalk Concert Series kicks off today at 6 p.m. on the Riverwalk Concert Stage at 307 S. Main St. with free all-ages performances by Aaron Kamm and the One Drops and Wampus Milk Daddies plus burgers, beers and local art vendors.  Kokomo Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Northwestern senior won the Howard County 4-H Supreme Showmanship title at the fair, and his father marked the victory by reviewing a plaque with photos of contestants in Greentown. The win highlights a long tradition that supports local youth in the annual competition.  Kokomo Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Cotswold Hills in southwest Kokomo told county commissioners about flooding problems that have worsened since a new 24-inch drainage pipe was installed; homeowners like Josh Cochran now face repeated basement flooding during rain events. County Commissioner Jack Dodd invited residents to share concerns at the drainage board meeting on July 21 + local officials admit funding issues have delayed proper repairs.  Kokomo Lantern
