Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 23rd of June.
Good morning, Kokomo.
🎓 Education
At Indiana University Kokomo's FIT camp, 20 student counselors helped children ages six to ten learn about exercise, healthy foods, and stress management to fight childhood obesity.
The camp — which has taught over 6,700 children since 1997 and received funding from Women of the Well House — shows how local efforts support healthy habits.
The Teacher Appreciate Grant program now can pay some Kokomo teachers up to $7,500 in performance stipends — a marked increase from past awards that were much smaller.
State education officials say the change is meant to better reward high teacher ratings and improve evaluation standards.
