  • Organizers Brian Hammond and Nancy Anderson marked the 40th anniversary of the St. Vincent Ascension Hospital Kids Classic Pro-Am on June 12—highlighting the event's role in uniting local families. They explained that the milestone demonstrates the tournament's long-standing tradition in serving the community.  Pharos-Tribune
  • Today, Greentown hosts its annual Glass Festival from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. downtown with a parade beginning at 11 a.m., live music, food trucks and vendors, and a ribbon cutting at Rescued Toys at 9 a.m.—the event also includes a glass marketplace at Kokomo Zion Church from 9 to 11 a.m. and a farmers market at Eastern High School until 2 p.m.  Kokomo Lantern

CRIME NEWS

  • Dustin J. Echelbarger, 43, was arrested on Wednesday after an eight-month investigation by Indiana State Police Peru Post revealed he fraudulently collected over $750,000 and secured more than $650,000 in loans using fake purchase orders while working as a salesman in Greentown—he now faces multiple felony charges and is held at Grant County Jail.  Giant.fm

  • Over the past two weeks, The Kokomo Post launched its 'Your Dad' campaign that invited local residents to share heartfelt stories honoring fathers, grandfathers, stepdads and father figures—highlighting meaningful contributions within our community. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indiana University Kokomo congratulated its 275 May graduates (in business, nursing, computer science and more) who earned their degrees. The diverse class represents students from (36 Indiana counties, five states, and three countries).  Kokomo Lantern
  • Augustus 'Augie' Mueller was named Tri-Central salutatorian for the class of 2025 after ranking in the top 10%, serving as vice president of student council, and playing varsity soccer and track—he will attend Indiana University to study environmental and sustainability studies.  Kokomo Tribune
  • Alexis DeBard, a Taylor High School senior, earned the principal leadership award for her leadership in school clubs and will attend Purdue Polytechnic-Kokomo to study mechanical engineering. Weather officials warned that cold air funnels may form in showers over Central Indiana today — these funnels are expected to cause only minor damage if they reach the ground.  Kokomo Tribune
