Good morning, Kokomo.

Ivy Tech Kokomo's Penny Zellers received the Hoosier Educator Award for her work in early childhood education.

She led an initiative supported by a Lilly Endowment grant that will boost over 20 programs in six counties — strengthening local teaching resources.

An Ivy Tech Kokomo student was honored at the CTE Awards for Excellence presented by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the Indiana Department of Education, recognizing strong leadership and community involvement in technical education.

Gov. Mike Braun extended an emergency order on Wednesday suspending gasoline taxes for another 30 days (helping maintain some of the lowest pump prices statewide).

Nominations for the Lieutenant Governor’s 2026 Golden Hoosier Award are open for Indiana residents aged 65 or older who have volunteered for three years or more.

Entries must be submitted by July 15 and winners will be honored at the Statehouse on Sept. 2.
