- ➤ Center Township Trustee will host a Community Expo on June 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the township campus on E. Jefferson St.—more than 35 agencies will offer food, free phones or tablets while supplies last, a free lunch, petting zoo, games, and tours of a fire truck and police vehicle. Kokomo Lantern

- ➤ Dimanione Lovelace, Jr of Kokomo was sentenced in Lafayette for his role in the fatal New Year's Day shooting of Anthony Holdbrook and related robbery, receiving a 72-year sentence—64 years in prison and 8 years probation—in Superior Court 1. Giant.fm

- ➤ Kokomo High School graduate Noelle Duncan was selected as one of 40 students nationwide for the Great American Songbook Academy — a weeklong music program in Carmel — and she will work with industry professionals — top college music educators — to boost her music skills. Kokomo Tribune
- ➤ Indiana University Kokomo appointed Amy Jarecki as Dean of Students to serve as the main advocate for students—she will oversee campus programming, judicial affairs, and resource navigation and plans to be visible at events this fall. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A recent poll showed nearly half of local school board members opposed the new law that lets candidates list their party affiliation—passed by the Indiana State Legislature this spring after a narrow Senate vote and multiple rounds of revisions. - ➤ The Howard County Coroner’s Office released its first-quarter 2025 report showing that 76 deaths were investigated, including 42 from natural causes, 8 from suicide, 25 accidental (14 drug overdoses, with 3 linked to fentanyl, 5 to methamphetamine and 6 to other substances) and one undetermined, plus 33 direct release cases reviewed. The office performed 30 autopsies, 37 toxicology tests and one imaging study at a total cost of $75,569, with overdose tests paid for by the Indiana State Department of Health. Giant.fm
