COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, KokoGo Bike Share launches its 2025 season with free bikes available at 307 S. Main St.—rentals are offered on weekends until May 25 with hours of Friday 4–9 p.m., Saturday 1–9 p.m., and Sunday 1–7 p.m., and renters must be 18 or older with a state-issued ID and a credit or debit card held on file.  Kokomo Tribune
  • KPRD launched the Park Passport program to help Kokomo residents explore local parks and events through the end of 2025. Participants who collect six, 12, or all 18 stamps will earn rewards—a day pass, swag bag, or t-shirt respectively—by signing up at the KPRD office in Highland Park.  Kokomo Lantern

CRIME NEWS

  • The Howard County Sheriff's Office received reports of scam calls when a caller claiming to be Sgt. Will Cline left a voicemail urging the recipient to contact the office about a legal matter, and the agency reminded locals that no officer will ever ask for money or donations while advising them to call (765-457-1105) to report similar calls.  Giant.fm

  • Retired Kokomo police officer and nurse Stanley Ridlen published his book 'How Almighty God Can Use a Simple Guy' on April 24, which tells of his faith and his time in public service. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ivy Tech Kokomo received a $50,000 grant from NIPSCO and the NiSource Charitable Foundation to expand its ESL Career Training Program for about 100 participants learning English and job skills. The pilot program is underway—its next class will run from June 9 to August 1 at the Logansport Campus, offering both day and evening sessions.  Kokomo Lantern

  • Detective Jay Harper, a Greentown native, retired on April 22 after 40 years with Indiana State Police—he served in several roles and solved major cases. He was named Detective of the Year at the 2025 awards and now looks forward to spending more time with his family.  Giant.fm
