  • Kokomo honored first responders for their heroic work during a February fire call on Feb. 11; firefighter Jordan Bass and his team were recognized for their quick, brave response + dedication to community safety.  Pharos-Tribune
  • Jefferson House of Flowers now features The Willow Room—a calm remembrance space for families experiencing loss. Located at 4300 W. 100 N, the expansion offers Christian books, memorial keepsakes, and a quiet seating area for visitors to relax and reflect.  The Kokomo Post
  • The Carl Koontz Memorial Carnival Event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at Western High School (2600 C.R. S. 600 W.) in Russiaville, offering games, face painting, a petting zoo, food trucks and raffles; an 11 a.m. memorial service will honor Carl and benefit local programs.  Pharos-Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • Kokomo Curtain Call Theatre for Children presents Oliver Jr., a junior adaptation of Dickens' Oliver Twist, at 2114 N. Armstrong St. with shows at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. tomorrow. Tickets cost $18 for adults and $15 for ages 18 and younger (reservations required).  Kokomo Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Mike Braun on Thursday backed establishing Turning Point USA student chapters at Indiana schools (to protect free speech and boost youth activism) as part of a push for balanced engagement. His comments noted that conservative groups must catch up to their liberal counterparts.  Pharos-Tribune
