Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 18th of February.
Good morning, Kokomo.
🎓 Education
Alayna Kline, a Kokomo High School senior, finished second runner up in the Distinguished Young Women of Indiana competition at Indiana University Kokomo Saturday night.
The event awarded $30,000 in scholarships across categories and crowned Katherine Novak of Montgomery County as Distinguished Young Woman of Indiana who will compete this summer.
A bill advancing in the legislature could require public schools to ban cellphones and smartwatches for the entire school day (with exceptions for emergencies and medical needs), forcing districts to choose between a no-device policy or secure storage of personal devices.
School officials are monitoring its progress closely.
